Baldor recognized for workplace safety

Baldor Electric Co. in Fort Smith, a division of ABB, received a 13 Million Man Hour Safety Award from the Arkansas Department of Labor, the Arkansas Insurance Department and the Arkansas Workers' Compensation Commission.

The company's 1,250 employees accumulated 13 million work hours without a lost day related to a work-related injury or illness between Aug. 10, 2010, and July 22, 2015.

Baldor is a marketer, designer and manufacturer of industrial electric motors, drives and mechanical power transmission products. The company has a safety program in effect and a safety committee made up of both employees and management.

Developer builds two 'Habitat' homes

Specialized Real Estate Group is the developer of a pair of Habitat for Humanity of Washington County homes on the 300 block of South West Avenue in Fayetteville. The company is also facilitating the lot purchase and assembling a design team including architecture firm Modus Studio, which donated architectural design services.

The adjoining homes, designed in consultation with the homeowners, will be energy efficient. The Mill District location in downtown Fayetteville is close to a grocery store, restaurants, the Fayetteville Farmers' Market, the library and parks. The Razorback Greenway, adjacent to the homes, provides access to employment and natural areas.
