Talk and retreat set by Buddhists

The Ecumenical Buddhist Society of Little Rock will host a public talk, "Happiness and the Nature of the Mind," 7-8:30 p.m. Feb. 19. Hun Lye will discuss the nature of the mind and its relevance to contemporary life.

The talk will be at the society's building, 1516 W. Third St. Cost is $10-$20.

A Buddhist retreat will be held Feb. 20-21 at the same location and will also feature Lye as the speaker. The program will be "Emptiness, Knowing, and the Radiant Mind," with Lye discussing these three qualities common in Buddhist contemplative practices. In addition to the teachings, the retreat will include time for silent contemplation, ritual chants and discussion.

The program will be held 10 a.m.-noon and 2-6 p.m. Feb. 20 and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 21. Cost is $100 for both days, $60 for Saturday only or $40 for Sunday only.
