LENTEN ACTIVITIES

• Christ Episcopal Church, 509 Scott St., will have Tuesday Lenten Lunches at noon Tuesdays during Lent, beginning Feb. 16. Participants will gather in the Sixth Street Bookstore in the church to read poems by Gregory Pardlo. A lunch of soup and salad will follow. • Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive, will offer Experiencing Lent Through the Arts on Feb. 17 and 24 and March 2 and 9. Dinner will be at 5:30 p.m. and classes and activities will be held from 6:30-7:15 p.m. Adult classes include an opportunity to reflect on creation through the poetry of Emily Dickinson (led by Chuck Chappell), a class on familiar hymns (led by Steve Hancock and Bevan Heating), and hands-on experience making crosses (led by artists in the congregation). Preschool story time will focus on stories of Jesus and art activities. Elementary schoolchildren will explore the season through art, music and movement. CLASSES AND CONFERENCES

• Ecumenical Buddhist Society of Little Rock, 1516 W. Third St., will offer a free class, The Noble Eightfold Path of Buddhism, 7-8:30 p.m. Mondays in February. The class will explore teachings and practices from the perspective of the Theravada tradition. Class materials will primarily consist of the book The Noble Eightfold Path, by Bhikkhu Bodhi.
