Light snow possible in parts of northern Arkansas

Forecasters say flurries may extend into the northernmost parts of Arkansas twice in the next few days, but neither event is expected to result in an accumulation of snow.

The first slight possibility of snowfall exists in Benton County between midnight and 6 a.m. overnight into Saturday, National Weather Service Meteorologist Tabitha Clarke said.

The snow is unlikely to result in anything but a light dusting, she added.

Forecasters at the weather service office in North Little Rock will be paying closer attention to potential snowfall along the counties bordering Missouri early Monday morning, Clarke said.

While the chance of snow Monday is also unlikely to cause any significant accumulation, Clarke said the chances "are a little bit better."

She said forecasters would continue to monitor the situation as the weekend progresses.
