Jeremy Wayne Conway, 33, is wanted on a failure-to-appear warrant in Jackson County Circuit Court connected with a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine.

Conway is considered dangerous and has been known to carry a gun, senior investigator Miranda Blevins said.

Deputies initially tried to pull over Conway about 2 p.m. Wednesday in Newport but Conway sped off in a white pickup, according to the sheriff's office. The pursuit began at the intersection of Arkansas 14 and Arkansas 17 and reached speeds of more than 100 mph, officials said.

The pursuit lasted about five minutes before Conway abandoned the vehicle on a flooded dirt road off Jackson County Road 16 near a slough between Vance and Drummond lakes, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies searched the area until about 2 a.m. Thursday before resuming their search at about 8 a.m.

Blevins said officials have dedicated more manpower and enlisted the use of an airplane in their search.

"He's not one we're unfamiliar with," she said. "We deal with him a lot on drugs."
