NWA Fishing Report

BEAVER LAKE

Black bass fishing is good in spite of the cold, muddy water.

James Whittle at Hook, Line and Sinker said Alabama rigs and crank baits are working. Points and rocky shorelines are good places to fish. Best fishing is from Rocky Branch park to the dam, where the water is not as muddy.

Crappie are biting in the Horseshoe Bend area 10 to 30 feet deep with minnows around brush and docks. No report on stripers or walleye. Water temperature is 46 to 48 degrees.

Mike Whitehouse at Hickory Creek Marina said few anglers are fishing on the south end of the lake because of muddy water.

BEAVER TAILWATER

Lisa Mullins at the Beaver Dam Store said trout are biting Power Bait in bright colors. Tip the bait with a waxworm for best results. Try trolling Flicker Shads or similar crank baits.

The best fishing is from a boat. There is little water to wade in because of the high level. Access is limited. Parker Bottoms parking lot is closed until flood damage is repaired. Campground C access is closed as is the turn-around area downstream from Campground C.

LAKE SEQUOYAH

Mike McBride at Lake Sequoyah bait shop said crappie are biting jigs fished beneath a bobber. Fish along flats. Work the jig 6 feet deep in water that is 10 feet deep.

Try jig and pigs for black bass. Use liver for catfish.

SWEPCO LAKE

Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said black bass fishing is good with a variety of soft-plastic baits.

Illinois River: Stroud said the river level is normal. He recommends using small tube baits, marabou jigs or Rooster Tails for black bass.

BELLA VISTA

Nick Gann at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista said trout fishing is good at Lake Brittany on small spoons. No report on other species.

EASTERN OKLAHOMA

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation said few reports have been submitted from eastern Oklahoma lakes. A few catfish are being caught at Fort Gibson Lake on shad, but fishing is slow.

TABLE ROCK LAKE

Pete Wenners at Pete’s Professional Guide Service said black bass fishing is slow. Try crank baits fished near points in creek arms. Most bass caught are spotted bass, he said.
