Registration open for history forum

Registration is available for the Black History Commission of Arkansas and the Arkansas History Commission symposium on Little Rock school desegregation.

The symposium's theme, "Little Rock School Desegregation: From Then to Now," will feature speakers John Kirk, James Ross, Felicia Hobbs, and state Rep. John Walker, D-Little Rock. The symposium will focus on aspects surrounding the desegregation of Little Rock's public schools, including historical and legal perspectives, personal experiences from an administrative standpoint, and an examination of where Little Rock school desegregation stands today.

The symposium is scheduled from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, 501 W. 9th St., Little Rock. The center is at the corner of Broadway and West 9th Street, just north of Interstate 630.

Admission to the seminar is free, but registration is required. The deadline for registering will be Tuesday. Check-in will begin at 9:15 a.m. Saturday.

Teachers can earn up to four professional development hours through attendance. Lunch will be provided.
