Man pointed gun at her, driver says

An Arkansas woman honked at a driver who cut her off in North Little Rock traffic, and the driver pulled up alongside her vehicle and threatened her with a handgun, according to police.

A 36-year-old woman from Beebe told police that she was exiting Interstate 40 onto Military Road in North Little Rock around 3:30 p.m. Monday when a silver Chevrolet Malibu approached her vehicle from behind and passed her on the right.

The Malibu then swerved in front of her and almost sideswiped her vehicle, a 2006 Toyota Avalon, so she honked her horn at him, the woman told police. The man stopped, rolled down the driver's-side window and pointed a black handgun at her, she told police.

The woman told police that she ducked down below her dashboard, and when she looked up again, the gunman had turned left onto Military Road.

The car appeared to be a 2010-12 model with paint damage on the left rear bumper, the woman told police. No suspect was identified on the report.

Man: Drug dealers beat, robbed him

Before revealing the correct location, a Little Rock man falsely told police that he was robbed somewhere else Monday night to keep his girlfriend from finding out he had gone to buy drugs, authorities said.

According to a North Little Rock police report, officers were sent to the Econo Lodge at 800 E. Broadway a little after 9:30 p.m. in response to a reported robbery.

At first, the man told police that he was walking back from the Phillips 66 gas station down the street when he was attacked by two people behind the Popeye's restaurant at 716 E. Broadway. According to the report, he said the robbers had a "long-barreled firearm," and one of them pinned him to the ground by putting his foot on the victim's head.

The man said he was punched and kicked on the left side of his ribcage, and the robbers stole his e-cigarette, wallet, identification card, Social Security card and his girlfriend's debit card.

North Little Rock police collected video footage from the Econo Lodge; the gas station at 700 E. Broadway; and the nearby Family Dollar store at 715 E. Broadway. The videos "showed discrepancies in the incident timeframe and location" that the victim had originally provided, the report said.

When police confronted him, he admitted that he was actually robbed behind the Family Dollar after meeting the robbers to buy drugs, the report said. He told police that he lied about the original location so his girlfriend wouldn't find out.

He also said the assailants appeared to have a BB gun and he had seen them early that night in a black sedan -- possibly a Ford Crown Victoria, a Mercury or a Chevrolet Impala.

He said he had one of the men's phone numbers, but he didn't know their names.

"I just know them from over there [the Family Dollar]," he told police. "I keep his number in my phone. I just have it in my phone."
