Hospital ball nets $600,000 for Center for Safe and Healthy Children

The Dec. 10 Miracle Ball, the signature fundraiser for Arkansas Children's Hospital, brought in nearly $600,000 for the David M. Clark Center for Safe and Healthy Children collaboration fund. The event, held in Children's Hall on the hospital grounds, took on the theme Designing Our Future.

The ball is hosted by the ACH Auxiliary and the Arkansas Children's Foundation.

Sharilyn and Brent Gasaway were co-chairmen of the sold-out event that began with cocktails, a silent auction and music by The Rodney Block Collective. A seated four-course dinner was catered by Capers. The menu included roasted apple and butternut squash salad and grilled tenderloin of beef paired with a butter-poached lobster tail.

The hall was transformed by lighting and decorations in white and silver. A round dais surrounded with white poinsettias in the center of the room served as a stage for pianist David A. Glaze, director of music ministries at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Guest tables covered in a variety of silver and white cloths held alternating centerpieces of tall white vases filled with white hydrangeas and tulips and shorter rectangular arrangements of white flowers.

The hall was illuminated by a massive white blown-glass chandelier over the stage, projected interlocking circles on the ceiling, and crystal ring chandeliers.

A live auction included several big-ticket items such as a $10,000 shopping spree at Hank's Fine Furniture, a seven-night European river cruise and a diamond and platinum necklace and matching bracelet by Jones and Son Fine Jewelry. The Rodney Block Collective also provided dance music after dinner.
