NWA Fishing Report

BEAVER LAKE

Crappie are biting on the south end of the lake.

Mike Whitehouse at Hickory Creek Marina said crappie fishing is fair in the Hickory Creek area. Jigs or minnows are working 12 feet deep around brush piles and standing timber. Some limits of 15 crappie have been caught lately. Crappie must be 10 inches or longer to keep at Beaver Lake.

Try brood minnows or shad for striped bass.

James Whittle at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said striped bass are scattered from the Arkansas 12 bridge south to Point 12.

Crappie fishing is fair from the Arkansas 12 bridge south to Hickory Creek park. Use minnows or jigs 15 to 20 feet around brush.

Black bass are biting jig and pigs or shad-colored swim baits. Fish along rock points and rock banks on the main lake.

BEAVER TAILWATER

Lisa Mullins at Beaver Dam Store said trout are biting a variety of flies including pheasant tails, midges and hare’s ears. San Juan worms and Copper Johns are also working.

The top lures are small spoons or Flicker Shad crank baits. The best bait is Power Bait in bright colors.

LAKE FAYETTEVILLE

Angela Perea at the lake office said black bass are biting well on crank baits, spinner baits, chatter baits and plastic worms. Crappie are biting well on minnows or jigs 10 feet deep. Bluegill fishing is fair. Try worms or crickets. Catfish are biting worms and goldfish.

LAKE SEQUOYAH

Mike McBride at the lake bait shop said black bass are biting spinner baits. Crappie are biting fair 5 to 15 feet deep on minnows or jigs. Catfish are biting liver or shad.

SWEPCO LAKE

Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said black bass are biting all types of soft plastics two to 20 feet deep. Swim baits are also working.

ILLINOIS RIVER

Stroud recommends using small jig and pigs for black bass. Marabou jigs are working best.

BELLA VISTA

Justin McClelland at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista said trout are biting well at Lake Brittany on small spoons.

Black bass are biting fair at all Bella Vista lakes on jig and pigs or plastic worms four to eight feet deep. Bluegill are biting fair on crickets or worms eight to 15 feet deep.

EASTERN OKLAHOMA

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation reports fair fishing for black bass at Fort Gibson Lake on spinner baits and crank baits. Crappie fishing is fair with marabou jigs or minnows. Catfish are biting hot dogs or shad.

TABLE ROCK LAKE

Pete Wenners at Pete’s Professional Guide Service said black bass are biting shallow and deep. Fish shallow with jerk baits along bluff ends and points. Try top-water lures until 9 a.m. around cedar trees and bluff ends.

Bass are also 25 to 40 feet deep on gravel points. Try a jigging spoon or a finesse worm on a drop-shot rig. Good areas include Campbell Point, Baxter and Shell Knob.
