Brenna Blackwell recently won the silver “Women Helping Women” Stevie Award, which recognizes the achievements of women who provided support and assistance to other women in their communities. Blackwell was the only Stevie Award winner from Arkansas. She is a mobile developer at RevUnit, a software development firm. She got her start in mobile development while an engineering student at the University of Arkansas. Blackwell is a volunteer instructor for AR Girls Code.
Stacy L. Leeds joined Arvest Bank’s board of directors. She is the dean and a professor of law at the University of Arkansas School of Law. She joined the university in 2011. Leeds lectures on American Indian law, oil and gas, property, natural resources and introduction to legal studies. She has law degrees from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Tulsa, and earned her master’s degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee and her bachelor’s from Washington University in St. Louis. She received the American Bar Association’s Spirit of Excellence Award in 2013.
Cathy Foraker of Fayetteville and Bill Watkins of Rogers were elected to six-year terms on the Beaver Water District board of directors. The water district is governed by a six-member elected board of directors with three members from Washington County and three from Benton County. Foraker began her service on the board in 2011 when she was appointed to fill an unexpired term. Watkins began his first term on Jan. 1, 2004.
