UA building gets Little Rock couple's pledge

FAYETTEVILLE -- A Little Rock couple has pledged $100,000 to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville to help pay for a new civil engineering research building.

Jim and Pat McClelland's gift will go toward a facility that the university has estimated will cost $10.13 million.

Plans call for the Civil Engineering Research and Education Center to be built in a research park about two miles southeast of the main campus.

"We've never had a civil engineering building," Jim McClelland, co-founder of Little Rock-based McClelland Consulting Engineers Inc. and a UA alumnus, said in a statement released by university. "This facility will educate thousands over the lifetime of the building."
