Hoosiers hang on to upset Tar Heels

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- OG Anunoby scored 16 points, James Blackmon Jr. had 14 and Robert Johnson added 11 Wednesday night, leading No. 13 Indiana past No. 3 North Carolina 76-67 in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.

The Hoosiers (5-1) have won two consecutive since last week's stunning loss to little-known IPFW.

North Carolina (7-1) never led and spent most of the game trailing by double digits.

Indiana jumped to a 17-7 lead, extended the margin to 28-11 and never allowed the Tar Heels to get closer than 61-57 with 4:52 to play.

In other games involving Top 25 men's teams Wednesday, London Perrantes scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half and No. 7 Virginia (7-0) overcame a sloppy performance and rallied past Ohio State (6-1) 63-61 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. ... Reserve King McClure scored 14 points and No. 9 Baylor (7-0) remained unbeaten with a 79-45 victory over Sam Houston State (4-3). ... Ray Spalding and Mangok Mathiang each scored 11 points and Donovan Mitchell contributed seven critical points down the stretch to help No. 14 Louisville (6-1) hold off No. 15 Purdue (5-2) 71-64 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. ... Lauri Markkanen scored 19 points and hit five three-pointers, helping No. 16 Arizona (6-1) bounce back from its first loss of the season with an 85-63 rout of Texas Southern (4-3).

ATHENS, Ga. -- Freshman Tyree Crump scored 16 points and senior Kenny Paul Geno came off the bench to score a career-high 15 points and Georgia (5-2) beat Morehouse 86-72 on Wednesday night.

In another game involving SEC men's teams Wednesday, Giddy Potts scored 20 points and hit four three-pointers to lead Middle Tennessee (7-1) to a 77-62 victory over Mississippi (5-2).

Southern California (6-1) beat No. 25 Texas A&M (5-1) 66-62 for the Aggies' first loss of the season.
