Hogs’ Ellis makes community service team

— Arkansas linebacker Brooks Ellis was named to the SEC Community Service Team on Wednesday by the league office.

Ellis has been volunteering with numerous local organizations during his four-year career, including the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Northwest Arkansas, Boys & Girls Club and others. The native of Fayetteville is also a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

Ellis, a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and a two-year team captain, carries a 3.82 GPA as a pre-professional exercise science major. He has aspirations of being an orthopedic surgeon after his football career.

Earlier this month, Ellis was named a National Scholar-Athlete and one of 12 finalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy, which honors academic as well as athletic achievements.
