Arkansas women run past Tulsa late

Arkansas used a 17-0 fourth-quarter run to rally past Tulsa 57-50 Wednesday night at the Donald W. Reynolds Center in Tulsa.

The Razorbacks (7-0) trailed 39-34 entering the fourth quarter. Tulsa's Tatyana Perez made a layup with 7:08 left to make it 48-40 before Arkansas reeled off its big run. Jailyn Mason's layup gave the Razorbacks the lead for good at 49-48 with 2:42 remaining.

Arkansas got two Alecia Cooley free throws, a Jessica Jackson three-pointer and free throw, and two Malica Monk free throws for a 57-48 advantage before Tulsa's Erika Wakefield made a jumper with four seconds remaining to set the final margin.

"This was a huge win on the road for us," Arkansas Coach Jimmy Dykes said. "We're 7-0 and we continue to find a way to win games. We didn't play great, but I think we beat a good team on the road. Our defense in that fourth quarter was the difference."

The Razorbacks held Tulsa (2-5) without a field goal for more than seven minutes late in the fourth quarter and limited the Golden Hurricane to 29.7 shooting from the field for the game, including 2 of 14 (14 percent) from three-point range.

Arkansas shot 38.6 percent from the field, but was 7 of 12 (58.3 percent) in the fourth quarter.

Jackson led all scorers with 22 points and 9 rebounds in a game-high 36 minutes. Bailey Zimmerman added 11 points for the Razorbacks, who got a team-high 4 assists from Monk.

Shug Dickson came off the bench to score a team-high 14 points for Tulsa, which got 11 from Kendrian Elliott and 10 more from Wakefield.
