Arkansas 112 set for lane widening

Construction associated with the new U.S. 412 northern bypass in Springdale will require daytime lane closures on Arkansas 112 today and Wednesday, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

Crews laying asphalt adjacent to Arkansas 112 to widen the roadway will require a single lane of traffic to be maintained between Carrie Smith and West Miller roads from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days, weather permitting. The work was originally scheduled to begin Monday, but was delayed due to weather.

Advance warning signs will be placed to notify traffic approaching the work zone, the department said.

The work is part of a $100.6 million project to build four miles of the new four-lane bypass from Interstate 49 to Arkansas 112. The bypass is expected to provide a principal east-west route north of the Springdale metropolitan area, the department said.
