Rotary

The Bella Vista Sunrise Rotary Club will hold a breakfast meeting at 7 a.m. Wednesday at the Concordia Retirement Center, 1 Concordia Drive in Bella Vista. The speaker will be Sgt. Eric Palmer of the Bella Vista Police Department to discuss the new Explorer Club.

Photo Club

The Photography Club of the Ozarks is calling for entries for a fall photography show at the historic Hotel Seville, 302 N. Main St. in Harrison.

The show is open to all photographers 18 or older. The exhibit opens Thursday and runs until Sept. 29, featuring entries from all over Northwest Arkansas.

All entries must be delivered to The Hotel Seville between 5 and 6 p.m. Wednesday. Entries may be dropped off early by contacting Rose Carter at (870) 688-0373 to make arrangements.

An award ceremony and reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 4 at The Hotel Seville, with awards announced at 3 p.m. Photographers do not need to be present to win but are encouraged to attend so that they can be recognized in person and publicity photos taken. Award monies will be determined by the number of entries. Checks will be issued at the end of the show.

Entries are solicited in two categories, black and white, and color, with a special category for "What is It?" either black and white or color. The entry fee is $5 per image for club members, and $10 for nonmembers.

Photos may be no larger than 16 inch by 24 inch including mat, and no smaller than 8 inch by 10 inches. Photos should be matted, but not framed. Photos will be hung using clips attached to the mats.

The maximum number of entries per photographer is six, plus one in the special category, for a total of seven entries.

Radio Club

The Bella Vista Radio Club will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday at Highland Christian Church, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista. All licensed amateur radio enthusiasts or prospective hams are welcome.

The club meets the first Thursday of each month.

Ark-Oma

Ark-Oma Whirlaways square dance club will be dancing from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Springdale Senior Center, 203 Park St. in Springdale. Bob Loyd will be calling. There will be mainstream and plus levels.

The club will be sponsoring a square dance class starting from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 10 at Salem Lutheran Church, 1800 W. Emma Ave. in Springdale. The class runs for 11 weeks, and the first lesson is free. Couples and singles are welcome; partners will be provided for singles. No experience is necessary.

Quilters

The Dogwood Quilters Guild of Siloam Springs invites all quilters to attend the 9:30 a.m. Saturday meeting. Gay Cooper, a fabric representative of Stof Fabrics, will be the guest speaker.

The group meets at the First United Methodist Church, 325 E. Twin Springs in Siloam Springs.

Cloggers

The fall session for the Hoot 'n Holler Cloggers will begin Sept. 6 at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. The beginning class will start at 3:30 p.m. followed by the regular class at 4:30 p.m.

A 10-session punch card for $30 can be purchased at Riordan Hall. Pick up a copy of the class schedule at registration and join the group for some fun exercise.

Music Club

"New Beginnings" is the theme for the Sept. 6 Andante Music Club meeting. The meeting will be held at noon at Highlands Christian Church, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista. A salad and dessert lunch will be served at noon followed by a performance by violinist Samantha Akers. Everyone is welcome.

The Andante Music Club is affiliated with the Arkansas and the National Music Clubs.

Line Dance

The Line Dance Club will hold a beginners class from 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays beginning Sept. 7 at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. Registration fee for the class is $20 for supplies. Participants who do not have a Bella Vista photo ID will pay Riordan Hall $2.25 per class.

The class will be taught by Kristine Schaap, who has taught the beginners for several years. As new dancers, participants will have the opportunity to learn line dancing steps and dances that use these steps, receive handouts, lots of practice and personal attention.

Legion

Bentonville American Legion Post 77 will have a booth at Centerton Days from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 10in the city park, 290 N. Main St. Stop by for information about the Legion or just to swap stories.

Post 77 meets at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month in the Masonic Lodge, 805 NW Eighth St. in Bentonville. A light dinner is served at 6 p.m.

The group also hosts a veterans coffee from 9 to 11 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of each month at the Center for Nonprofit at St. Mary's Building, 1200 W. Walnut St. in Rogers. Any and all veterans are invited.

Democrats

A tradition for more than 50 years, the Democratic Party of Benton County will gather for the Little Flock Picnic at 4 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Little Flock City Park. Party leaders and candidates will join Democrats from Northwest Arkansas for a "Democratic Meal." State Representative Greg Leding will be the featured speaker discussing "Status of the Democratic Party in Arkansas."

With Leding will be Vincent Insalaco, state party chairman, and candidates Conner Eldridge and Grimsley Graham, as well as other candidates from the region. Everyone is invited to bring lawn chairs and share picnic fare catered by IDK? Cafe.

Squares

The Kingsdale Squares will dance beginning at 7 p.m.Sept. 12 at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. Johnny Eubanks will be calling. There will be a plus workshop at 6:30 p.m. All square dancers are invited.

Pinochle Club

St. Bernard Pinochle Club will meet the second Monday of every month from September through May at 6 p.m. at the Parish Hall. Play begins at 6:30 p.m. The entry fee is $1 per time and 4 to 5 places plus low-man go home with winnings.

Village Art Club

The Village Art Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. at the Wishing Spring Gallery on McNelly Road in Bella Vista. Each month one of the exhibitors from the Gallery discusses the process and product he shows and sells at the Wishing Spring Gallery, which is sponsored by the Art Club.

Each fall the VAC also sponsors the Bella Vista Arts and Crafts Festival, and the proceeds go to fund art scholarships and grants at local elementary schools to further arts and education.

The meeting is open to the public, and information regarding membership is available at the meeting. All are welcome.

Christian Women

"Tying Life's Loose Strings" will be the theme for the Bella Vista Christian Women's Connection from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. The feature will be Charlotte Fisher, who will share her quilting expertise. The guest speaker will be Sandra Dean speaking on "Missing Heaven by 18 Inches." A brunch will be served for $10.

The program is presented by Stonecroft Ministries and is nondenominational.
