THE SKINNY Greenwood is still on the hunt for its eighth state title after coming up short in the 2015 Class 6A title game with a 28-21 loss to Pine Bluff. … The Bulldogs defeated seven Class 7A teams in 2015. Ironically their only loss came at the hands of a 6A team in the state finals. … Quarterbacks Hales and Noland split time at the position in 2015 and will do so again this season. Hales completed 138 of 204 passes (68 percent) for 2,175 yards and 19 touchdowns, while rushing 115 times for 715 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has a scholarship offer from Southeast Missouri State. … Noland completed 73 of 107 passes (68 percent) for 872 yards and nine touchdowns. He also rushed for 431 yards on 61 carries. Noland has 12 Division I offers and has verbally committed to playing football and baseball at Arkansas.

THE SKINNY Siloam Springs started the 2015 season 3-0, but injuries devastated the Panthers and they limped to a 1-6 finish and missed the Class 6A playoffs. … Senior Luke Lampton takes over full time at quarterback after being the primary backup the last two seasons. … Defensive lineman James Boyd, who missed most of 2015 with a torn ACL, has a scholarship offer from Missouri Southern. … For the first time since moving to Class 6A in 2012, the Panthers will play in an all-6A conference. They were the only 6A team in the 7A/6A-West in 2012 and 2013 and in a split conference in the 7A/6A-Central in 2014 and 2015. … The Panthers will have three long road trips for conference games — at Benton, at Lake Hamilton and at Texarkana.
