Travs fall to Drillers in series finale

Edwin Rios' fourth-inning sacrifice fly proved to be the difference Friday as the Tulsa Drillers defeated the Arkansas Travelers 2-1 in the teams' series finale at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.

Despite the loss, the Travelers remained a half game behind the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in the second half of the Texas League North Division standings. The Naturals lost 2-1 at Springfield (Mo.) on Friday night. The Travelers and Naturals begin a three-game series today at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock.

Arkansas took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Jabari Henry led off with a single, then advanced to second on a throwing error by Tulsa third baseman Kyle Farmer. Henry advanced to third on Jose Briceno's groundout, then scored on the first of two wild pitches from Drillers starter Seth Frankoff.

Farmer made up for his throwing error by starting Tulsa's rally in the bottom of the second with a one-out double. After Dan Johnson walked, Farmer scored on Lars Anderson's double to left field, tying the game at 1-1. Johnson advanced to third on the double, putting runners at the corners with one out, but Rios lined out and catcher Tyler Ogle struck out to end the threat.

Johnson drew a one-out walk to get things started for Tulsa in the fourth inning. Anderson, who finished 2 for 3 and was the only Drillers player with multiple hits, doubled to right field, advancing Johnson to third before he scored on Rios' sacrifice fly for the go-ahead run.
