Sharon attains Eagle Scout rank

Nathan Sharon, 16, of Bella Vista completed work on his Eagle Scout project May 19. A court of honor was held Aug. 13 to present the award. He is the son of Susan and Dan Sharon and a member of Troop 525 in Bentonville, with scoutmaster Dennis Lowe.

For his project, Sharon organized a renovation of a Civil War-era cemetery, Phagan Cemetery in Gentry. Sharon gathered more than 30 volunteers and logged more than 140 hours for this project. When the group began restoration, the cemetery’s headstones were completely hidden with brush. At completion, all headstones were clean and visible. Volunteers also thinned brush and trees near the site.
