Try selling Missouri land before fee increase

A question comes to mind prior to voting in September about increasing the Property Owners Association's monthly assessment fee to $9 per residential household. The question is "Do we still have the property in Missouri which, no doubt, has increased in value?" I haven't heard otherwise, so I am assuming we still own it.

If so, then would this not be a good time to sell it and use the monies to help update Bella Vista? Although $9 may not be a hardship for many, it can be, especially for those who depend on Social Security only. This would decrease the $9 a few dollars and voters might not think "too much, too soon."

I am aware that today's prices won't be the same in a few years if we improve slowly, but we must think priorities, just as we do with our own budgets. This is just another side of the coin, so we can feel good about our vote, whatever it may be.

Good luck on making the right decision.

Lessons learned at a 'very young age'

My heart goes out to the letter writer, and others of his ilk, who wrote in to complain about political cartoons and letters to the editor he doesn't care for. Like him, I often feel sheer, unadulterated rage whenever I see a political cartoon that goes against my own views, or read letters from those who have the temerity to disagree with me.

Oh, wait ... no, I don't. Because I learned at a very young age that political cartoons are sort of like the weather; if I don't like a cartoon today, I may well find one tomorrow that will tickle my fancy.

And as for letters to the editor I disagree with? Again, I learned at a very young age that folks not associated with the paper actually write those letters.

Hardly the stuff of dark conspiracies.

Democrats pushing corrupt leader, signs show

I live in a nice neighborhood in Rogers. Well, I thought I did, but recently a security camera recorded a neighbor stealing two political signs from my yard. I suppose the person was a Hillary Clinton fan desperate to silence any opposition.

It is not surprising to see a Democrat would sink to theft to protect such a weak candidate.

Hillary has a 50/50 chance of being president. If you like the corruption, fraud and waste of the old-guard establishment in Washington, then Hillary is your girl. Someone who sells political favors for personal gain, has no regard for handling of national security documents and is unable to recognize how to tell the truth will be a great leader. Twenty-five years of failure certainly counts as experience. A vote for Hillary will be sure to continue the eight years of incompetence of a failed community organizer. The FBI director and 60 percent of the population seem to believe she is a liar. Hillary would stack the Supreme Court with liberal judges and maintain a questionable Department of Justice.

There is another choice. Actually, the only choice: Donald Trump. The Democrats, the media and even a few Republicans are terrified. The old guard in Washington will go to any length to ensure some upstart nonpolitician does not upset the lucrative system that feeds them so well. Words are twisted, lies are told, anything that will diminish Donald Trump will be tried.

They will even stoop to petty theft of yard signs. How sad is that?
