— Arkansas coaches have named redshirt freshman Ty Storey the backup quarterback.

Storey beat out Rafe Peavey for the job prior to Peavey transferring from the team, coach Bret Bielema said Wednesday. Bielema said coaches told Storey he would be the team's backup quarterback Sunday and Peavey asked for a transfer the same night.

Peavey annouced he would transfer to SMU on Tuesday.

Storey and true freshman Cole Kelley will continue to split practice time with the Razorbacks' second-team offense, Bielema said. Kelley is expected to travel with the team this season, but no determination has been made as to whether he will redshirt.

In two preseason scrimmages, Storey has completed a combined 7 of 14 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown, while Kelley is a combined 13 of 27 for 227 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
