Body in river ID'd as Paragould man

A body found late last week in the Cache River by a farmer has been identified as a Paragould man, according to authorities.

The Jackson County sheriff's office, citing results from the state Crime Laboratory, confirmed Tuesday that the man was 38-year-old Jesse Lee Gates.

Authorities from Jackson and Poinsett counties pulled Gates' body from in the river near Pitts on Friday. His body was then taken to the Crime Lab for autopsy.
