— Arkansas sophomore quarterback Rafe Peavey announced he is transferring to SMU in a statement Tuesday night.

Peavey ended spring practice as the backup to starter Austin Allen, but underwent surgery after suffering a minor back injury in July. He didn't miss any practice time but fell behind redshirt freshman Ty Storey and true freshman Cole Kelley on the depth chart in fall camp. He dressed out but didn’t get any reps in Saturday’s final scrimmage of fall camp.

Peavey was the third-team quarterback as a redshirt freshman and didn’t play a snap in his brief Arkansas career. WholeHogSports.com was the first to report that Peavey was considering a transfer and that SMU was a destination.
