Expect overnight lane closures on I-49 all week

SPRINGDALE -- Ongoing work on Interstate 49 will require multiple lane closures this week, according to Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department officials.

Construction work on I-49 in Johnson and Springdale continues as crews will place pavement markings and the shoulder rumble strip on the inside and outside lanes. The inside and outside lanes of I-49 will alternately be closed for construction.

The overnight lane closures will occur through Friday morning, weather permitting. North lane closures will occur between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m, and south lanes between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Construction work on the interstate in Springdale continues tonight as crews will place the final surface on the roadways on north and south lanes at the Elm Springs Road interchange, Exit 73, and between the Spring Creek bridges, south of exit 73, and Wagon Wheel Road overpass, exit 76. The median and outside lanes of I-49 between Sunset Avenue and Wagon Wheel Road will alternately be closed to allow for construction.

The overnight lane closures will occur through Friday morning, weather permitting. North lane closures will occur between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., and south lanes between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
