ANGELS OF HOPE

New set of volunteers ready to start earning their wings

The 2017 Angels of Hope met for the first time Aug. 14 at the 20th Century Club's Lodge, which provides temporary housing for cancer patients who are receiving outpatient chemotherapy or radiation treatments at a central Arkansas hospital.

The Angels of Hope program pairs high school sophomores with club members as the students work toward at least 25 volunteer service hours during the school year.

The event gave the young women a chance to meet others in the program, their mentors and sign up for activities. In addition to volunteering, the program teaches cancer awareness and leadership.

The program culminates with the Hope Ball fundraiser in the spring, where the Angels are introduced.
