Rogers school bus windows shattered in accident

ROGERS -- Six students received minor cuts in a school bus crash early Wednesday, a School District spokeswoman said.

The incident occurred at 7:04 a.m. in the parking lot of the Lost Springs apartment complex in Little Flock. The bus hit an unmarked pipe sticking out of the back of a parked pickup, resulting in some broken windows on one side of the bus, according to Ashley Siwiec, district director of communications.

There were 41 students on the bus at the time, including 31 headed to Mathias Elementary School, six to Oakdale Middle School and four to Heritage High School, Siwiec said.

Paramedics checked 15 of the students. Six received bandages for minor cuts. All students continued on to their schools, Siwiec said.

The owner of the 2016 Ram pickup involved in the crash was cited for not having a light or flag signaling a load that projects more than 4 feet beyond the vehicle, according to Jesse Martinez, Little Flock police chief. Martinez declined to release the name of the pickup's owner.
