A Centerton woman was arrested Thursday after she threatened to shoot animal control officers if they returned to her home for an animal hoarding complaint, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Laura Daley, 55, of 8550 N. Tycoon Road was arrested Thursday in connection with first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony. Daley also faces misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty and second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, according to the affidavit.

Centerton animal control officers first went to Daley's home after a caller said she saw dead animals in the backyard and feces in Daley's home when the caller went to pick up three puppies from Daley. The caller noticed two dead cats and a fish in the backyard, and one dog inside a cage with a dead cat, the affidavit said.

When animal control visited Daley's home, they noticed seven dogs approach the fence and saw what they believed was another dog's carcass. Officers first spoke with one of Daley's daughters, who told them their home was "not a puppy mill" and that police weren't "taking my babies," the affidavit said.

Police then received a voicemail from Daley who said police were harassing her daughter and that there would be "consequences" if authorities returned to her home. Daley also said that she has a right to defend herself and her property, warning police that she would shoot them if they came back, according to the affidavit.

Daley told investigators that she didn't leave the message and it must have been her daughter impersonating her.

Daley was no longer listed Friday as an inmate at the Benton County Jail.
