Plasterboard falls, injures LR worker

A man was injured Friday morning by a falling piece of wallboard while he was working on renovations at the Robinson Center, a spokesman for the Little Rock Fire Department said.

The man, who the department did not identify, suffered a broken arm and other nonlife-threatening injuries when the plasterboard fell from about 20 feet above him, Capt. Jason Weaver said.

Three engines and nine firefighters went to the scene about 11:20 a.m. and immediately put the man on a spine board to carry him downstairs. The crew splinted his arm before the Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services personnel took the man to a hospital for treatment.

Weaver said it appeared the wallboard had come loose from the wall. An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
