POCAHONTAS -- A Pocahontas man was convicted of second-degree battery in Randolph County Circuit Court for hitting a child with a belt, Prosecuting Attorney Henry Boyce said.
Jeromy Allyn Geelhoed, 40, was sentenced to three years in prison after a circuit court jury of six men and six women deliberated for two hours and found him guilty late Thursday.
The child testified in trial that Geelhoed whipped him "severely" with a belt, Boyce said.
The case was reported to the Pocahontas Police Department and the Arkansas Department of Human Services.
