For college chief, new pact, no raise

BENTONVILLE -- A three-year contract extension that takes effect July 1 for Northwest Arkansas Community College's president does not include a salary increase.

The board approved Evelyn Jorgenson's contract extension April 11 after a review and evaluation. The college released a copy of the contract this week.

Jorgenson requested the board not give her a raise from her salary of $187,594, according to Steven Hinds, the college's executive director of public relations and marketing.

Jorgenson began as president in July 2013. Her first-year salary was $182,131. She previously spent 16 years as president of Moberly Area Community College in Moberly, Mo.

Her new contract will provide Jorgenson an $18,000 annual housing allowance, as her first contract did.

The college's foundation also will continue providing Jorgenson a vehicle for business use and $30,000 per year "as a business allowance to be used solely for the benefit of the college," according to the contract.
