Police said neither of the shots were believed to have hit the man, who has not been identified or located.

The incident occurred at about 3 p.m. at Waymack Insurance, 436 Broadway.

The Hot Springs Police Department said in a news release that the gunman entered the business and pointed a rifle at an employee. The business owner, Michael Waymack, grabbed a revolver after he heard the employee yell, "Don't shoot," police said.

The gunman walked farther into the office and pointed the rifle at Waymack, the release said.

"Michael Waymack fired two shots from his revolver at the suspect," the release said. "The suspect did not return fire and fled the business."

Police described the incident as an attempted robbery. No injuries were reported.

The would-be robber was described as a white man who was wearing camouflage pants, a camouflage hooded jacket and a black ski mask.
