FDR historian to speak at LR venue

Author and professor Douglas Brinkley will give a speech at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service on President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Brinkley will talk about his newest book, Rightful Heritage: Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Land of America, which focuses on Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corps program and efforts to protect America's public lands.

The speech is scheduled from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at Sturgis Hall, which is the former Choctaw Railway station building on the grounds of the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave., in Little Rock. The venue may change if a larger than anticipated number of people make reservations.

Brinkley is a professor of history at Rice University in Houston; a fellow at the James Baker Institute for Public Policy; a CNN presidential historian; and an editor at Audubon Magazine.
