Earnings report

Companies reporting quarterly earnings Thursday included:

Aetna Inc., the nation’s thirdlargest health insurer, a profit of $726.6 million, or $2.06 a share, down from $777.5 million, or $2.20 a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 4 percent to $15.7 billion. Shares rose 83 cents to close Thursday at $114.63.

Charter Communications Inc., a loss of $188 million, or $1.68 a share, from a loss of $81 million, or 73 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 7.1 percent to $2.53 billion. Shares rose $3.32 to $209.75.

ConocoPhillips, the thirdlargest U.S. oil producer by market value, a loss of $1.5 billion, or $1.18 a share, down from a profit of $ 272 million, or 22 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue fell to $5.1 billion. Shares fell 44 cents to $47.67.

Dunkin’ Brands Group Inc., the restaurant chain, a profit of $37.2 million, or 40 cents a share, up from $25.6 million, or 25 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 4.4 percent to $189.8 million. Shares fell 39 cents to $47.47.

MasterCard Inc., the second-largest U.S. payments network, a profit of $959 million, or 86 cents a share, down from $1.02 billion, or 89 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue increased 9.7 percent to $2.45 billion. Shares fell $1.20 to $97.18.

Potash Corp., the world’s second-largest producer of its namesake fertilizer, a profit of $75 million, or 9 cents a share, from $370 million, or 44 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue fell to $1.2 billion. Shares fell 62 cents $17.61.
