Two killed in accidents on Arkansas highways

Two people died Monday night in single-vehicle wrecks on Arkansas roads.

Raymond Williams, 31, of Havana was killed in Yell County while driving a 2001 Jeep eastbound along Arkansas 10, state police reported. Williams' vehicle left the roadway while going around a curve and struck a tree.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by Yell County Coroner Donna Wells. A passenger, Nicole Duke of Danville, was treated at UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock for injuries.

Weather conditions were clear and dry.

Michael C. Tisdale, 41, of Malvern also died Monday night after losing control of the 2003 Honda Accord he was driving "at a high rate of speed" while trying to negotiate a curve, according to the Hot Springs Police Department.

Police responded to the single-vehicle accident at 2009 Park Avenue at 10:32 p.m.

After passing two vehicles on a double yellow line, witnesses reported seeing Tisdale's car spin in a clockwise direction before leaving the road, hitting and rupturing a gas main, and striking a large tree.

Tisdale was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 11:40 p.m., police said.
