Little Rock man arrested in March shooting

Little Rock police on Tuesday arrested a man in connection with a shooting that left another man critically injured last month.

Michael Benard Crawford, 56, was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder and first-degree battery. Crawford is accused of shooting Johnny Murray, 42, of Little Rock, eight times the evening of March 10.

Police were called that night to an Exxon gas station at 6920 Colonel Glenn Road, where they found a bloodied Crawford, according to a police report. He told police he'd been shot by "his friend who was riding with him."

Crawford was taken to UAMS Medical Center, and he did not have a pulse when he arrived, according to the report. He underwent emergency surgery and survived his injuries.

Police issued an arrest warrant April 14 for Crawford. Details of his arrest Tuesday weren't available.

Crawford, of Little Rock, was being held in the Pulaski County jail.
