Gun Sense founder speaks in LR today

Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, will speak at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service today.

Watts started a Facebook page the day after the Sandy Hook, Conn., school shootings with the message that everyone could do more to reduce gun violence. The online conversation turned into grassroots movement of American mothers fighting for public safety measures. Moms Demand Action, which has established a chapter in each state, is part of Everytown for Gun Safety.

The lecture -- which is scheduled from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. -- will be held at the Clinton School's Sturgis Hall. The building is the old Choctaw Railway station on the Clinton Presidential Center grounds, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock.

Admission is free and open to the public. Reservations are required by emailing [email protected] or calling (501) 683-5239.
