Hearing reset for Staton's grandfather

A pretrial hearing for a man accused of hindering apprehension and prosecution in the murder of a Conway couple was rescheduled Monday, according to court documents.

The hearing for Randal Staton, 58, of Conway is set for 9 a.m. June 20 before Faulkner County Circuit Judge Charles Clawson Jr.

Prosecuting Attorney Cody Hiland said rescheduling hearings is common.

Staton is the grandfather of Justin Staton, 15, who is one of the four teenagers charged in the July 21 shooting deaths of Patricia and Robert Cogdell, both 66, of Conway. The Cogdells had been Justin's legal guardians since at least 2010.

Justin Staton and Hunter Drexler, 18, of Clinton are charged with two counts of capital murder and other offenses. Anastasia Roberts, 17, of Conway and her boyfriend, Connor Atchley, 17, of Greenbrier are charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and felony theft by receiving.

Justin Staton's mother Michelle Staton, 37, of Conway also is charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution.

Phone calls left for Staton's defense attorney, Omar Greene, were not immediately returned Monday.

All six defendants have pleaded innocent.
