Hike explores Ozark Highlands Trail

Hill ’N Dale Hiking Club will hike a section of the Ozark Highlands Trail at Lake Fort Smith State Park on Wednesday. The hike is five to six miles and rated moderate. Meet at 8 a.m., at the Harps store in Bella Vista for carpooling.

The group will hike four miles at Mount Sequoyah in Fayetteville on May 7. It is rated easy to moderate.

Trout Unlimited

teaches fishing

A free fly fishing clinic for women will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 7 at the Illinois River Watershed Partnership Learning Center in Cave Springs.

The clinic will cover the basics of fly fishing, knots, flies and casting. Equipment is provided or students may bring their own. Lunch is provided. Kerri Russell with Trout Unlimited will teach the clinic. It is limited to 10 students.

Bowhunters

set two shoots

Cherokee Bowhunters will host a night 3-D shoot on Saturday and a daytime 3-D shoot on May 7. Both are open to all archers. The events are at the Fort Crowder archery range east of Neosho, Mo.

The night shoot starts at sunset. Archers may start the May 7 shoot anytime between 9 a.m., and 1 p.m. There are 40 3-D animal targets.

Fundraiser to feature

fishing films

The International Fly Fishing Film Festival will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday at Meteor Guitar Gallery, 128 W. Central Ave., in Bentonville. The event is a fundraiser for Reel Recovery fishing retreats for male cancer survivors.
