A Pablo Picasso painting is one of eight pieces of art that will be on loan to the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville beginning in late April, a museum curator said Monday.

Picasso's Seated Woman in a Chemise is on loan from the Tate Museum in London and can be viewed through July 2017, Crystal Bridges spokesman Beth Bobbitt said. Belgian artist Rene Magritte’s L’Anniversaire, on loan from the Art Gallery of Ontario, will also be available in the fall.

“These very special loans offer a wonderful opportunity for visitors to view works by American modernists side by side with masters of the European avant-garde who had great influence in America,” said Margi Conrads, the Crystal Bridges director of curatorial affairs.

On the museum grounds, The Four Seasons sculptures by American artist Philip Haas will be installed on the Orchard Trail until September, Bobbitt said. The work transforms the Italian Renaissance paintings by Giuseppe Arcimboldo into three-dimensional fiberglass heads made from different types of vegetation.

Haas, whose work has been featured at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., will be at Crystal Bridges from 1-2 p.m. Friday for a free outdoor conversation about the sculptures, according to a news release from the museum.

Five pieces will also be added to the "Black Unity" exhibit, which includes artwork created over the last 50 years by black artists, Bobbitt said. The exhibit can be viewed from May 4 until Sept. 5.
