TASTE OF LITTLE ROCK

UALR Alumni Association serves up $100,000 at event

There were no speeches, no program, no plaques presented, just a lot of good food, drinks and fellowship April 14 at Taste of Little Rock as the University of Arkansas at Little Rock alumni and friends gathered to honor Bob and Peggy Denman. The 13th annual fundraiser by the Alumni Association was held at UALR's Jack Stephens Center.

The honorees are UALR alumni and active in the community. Bob Denman just retired from the university as vice chancellor for advancement. In that position, he helped raise $103.4 million during a 10-year fundraising campaign.

Some of central Arkansas' best restaurants lined the floor of the arena and served up a wide variety of samples including lobster thermidor, tamales and sushi. After filling their plates, guests dined at round tables and cocktail tables that centered the arena floor. About 850 guests helped raise $100,000 for the association. Money raised goes to the association's scholarship fund.
