Driver’s ed course offered in Spanish

A driver’s educational course for Spanish speakers is planned for Saturday at Little Rock’s Southwest Community Center.

The course is the third hosted by the Working Together in the Community group started by City Director Joan Adcock.

From 6-8 p.m. Saturday, a lesson on driving rules and regulations will be given in Spanish at the center on Baseline Road.

The free session will cover traffic laws, road signs and traffic signals, how to register a vehicle and how to take the driving exam.

Refreshments and child care will be provided.

Applicants sought for water board

Applications are being accepted for a vacant board seat on Central Arkansas Water’s board of commissioners.

The seat is for a Little Rock representative, meaning the person must live in the city.

Letters of interest and resumes will be accepted through noon May 6. Applications should be mailed to P.O. Box 1789, Little Rock, Ark., 72203 and addressed to Board of Commissioners, Central Arkansas Water, c/o Becky Linker, chief administrative officer.

The governing board of the water utility has seven members who serve seven-year terms. The appointee to this seat will start the term July 1. The board consists of four Little Rock residents and three North Little Rock residents.

Commissioners have authority to manage, operate, improve, extend and maintain the agency and distribution system. The board also is in charge of the system’s water plan.
