Earnings report

Companies reporting quarterly earnings Thursday included:

D.R. Horton Inc., the homebuilder, a profit of $195.1 million, or 52 cents a share, up from $147.9 million, or 40 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 16 percent to $2.7 billion. The shares rose 36 cents to close Thursday at $31.78.

PulteGroup Inc., the homebuilder, a profit of $83.3 million, or 24 cents a share, up from $54.9 million, or 15 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 26 percent to $1.43 billion. Shares fell 5 cents to $19.13.

Southwest Airlines, the Dallas-based carrier, a profit of $511 million, or 79 cents a share, up from $453 million, or 66 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 9 percent to $4.83 billion. Shares rose 68 cents to $48.30.

Under Armour Inc., the athletic-apparel maker, a profit of $19.2 million, or 4 cents a share, up from $11.7 million, or 3 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose to $1.05 billion. Shares rose $2.98 to $46.93.

Verizon Communications Inc., the largest U.S. cellphone carrier, a profit of $4.31 billion, or $1.06 a share, up from$4.22 billion, or $1.03 a share, a year ago. Revenue rose slightly to $32.17 billion. The shares fell $1.72 to $50.03.
