— Florida scored five runs in the sixth inning and beat Arkansas 8-2 Saturday at Baum Stadium.

The No. 2 Gators swept the three-game series. The Razorbacks have lost eight straight SEC games in which they have never led.

Arkansas (21-15, 4-11 SEC) fell into a tie with Tennessee for last place in the conference after being swept for the second straight weekend.

Peter Alonso's three-run home run capped the Gators' five-run sixth. Florida (33-5, 11-4) forced Arkansas starter Zach Jackson out of the game after Jackson hit Buddy Reed with the bases loaded to break a scoreless tie.

Jackson didn't allow a hit the first five innings, but ran into trouble in the sixth. Jeremy Vasquez led off the inning with a single and Nelson Maldonado walked. Florida loaded the bases with one out when Jackson's 3-2 pitch to Deacon Liput was called a ball, drawing the ire of the Arkansas dugout.

Jackson gave up four runs in 5 1/3 innings. He gave up one hit, walked four and struck out four.

The Gators added another run off reliever Doug Willey in the seventh inning when Liput singled to give Florida a 6-0 lead.

Arkansas scored its first run in the seventh when Tucker Pennell doubled to score Michael Bernal. The Gators went up 7-1 in the eighth on Ryan Larson's RBI single.

TV replays showed Larson's groundball hit Alonso, who was running from second to third base. Alonso should have been out on the play and the run disallowed, but neither second base umpire Tony Walsh nor third base umpire Jack Cox saw the play.

The Gators extended their lead to 8-1 in the top of the ninth when Jonathan India scored on a wild pitch by Barrett Loseke. Jake Arledge's RBI double scored Michael Bernal in the bottom of the ninth.

Alex Faedo struck out 10 in 6 1/3 innings to earn his seventh win for Florida. Faedo allowed five hits and walked two.

The Razorbacks had a chance to break through against Faedo in the second inning. Arkansas loaded the bases with no outs, but failed to score.

Rick Nomura recorded the first out on an infield fly. Chad Spanberger followed with a strikeout and Pennell grounded out to end the inning.

The Razorbacks failed to score again after putting runners on second and third in the third inning. Arkansas out-hit Florida 9-7, but stranded eight runners.

Arkansas is scheduled to play again Tuesday against Creighton.
