SPRINGDALE -- It was a frustrating day for Springdale Har-Ber until Blake Adams came through in the sixth inning.

Adams hit a two-out, two-run triple to tie the game then scored on a single by Caleb Grace to lead Har-Ber to a 5-2 victory over Fort Smith Southside Monday at the Tyson Complex. Har-Ber scored all five of its runs in the sixth after trailing 2-0 to begin the inning.

Adams, a freshman, tied the game with a triple into the gap in right-center field. He got a second chance at the plate and responded with a hit after his popup fell between the Southside catcher and first baseman in foul territory.

"Blake Adams is a freshman on paper, but he plays like a veteran," Har-Ber coach Ron Bradley said. "He's been playing that way all year. I'd just as soon have him at the plate in a clutch situation as anybody in our lineup."

Brady Patrick earned the pitching victory over Hunter Pogue for Southside. Har-Ber and Southside will meet again in Fort Smith on Wednesday instead of today because of wet field conditions.

Southside held a 2-0 lead after single runs in the first and second innings. Kinner Brasher led off the game with a triple and scored on an error. Patrick looked like he was going to get out of the inning after consecutive strikeouts, but first baseman Brandon Still bobbled a low throw from third base as Brasher scored.

Southside added another run before Har-Ber rallied in the sixth on key hits by Still, Adams and Grace. Tyler Blackston reached base three times for Har-Ber on a double, single and a walk.

Patrick, who struck out nine, retired Southside in order in the seventh to complete the victory. Har-Ber won despite making five errors and having two runners thrown out at the plate.

"We're down 2-0 after we give up two cheap runs and we can't buy a hit," Bradley said. "But our kids showed some patience and some discipline after the fifth, and it was a good come-from-behind win."

Bentonville 10, Rogers Heritage 0

Kasey Ford shut out Heritage on just two hits, and Bentonville blew the game open with seven runs in the fifth inning during 7A-West Conference action at the Tiger Athletic Complex.

Ford (3-3) needed just 67 pitches -- 48 for strikes -- to even his record and struck out seven.

Tyler Poole put Bentonville (10-6, 5-2) on the scoreboard with a two-run home run off Macauley Sams in the second inning. The Tigers added a run in the third before they blew the game open in the fifth with an RBI double by Tyler Johnson, a two-run double by Kyle Knight, a two-run single by Carter Brown.

The two teams will play again at 4:30 p.m. today at Veterans Park in Rogers.

Fayetteville 12, Rogers High 6

The Bulldogs scored seven runs in the fourth inning and knocked the Mounties out of first place in the 7A-West Conference.

Fayetteville (11-8, 4-3 7A-West) collected 12 hits and beat Rogers ace Harrison Heffley in the process. The two teams will square off today in Fayetteville to complete the two-game series.

Quin Rudzinski, Fayetteville's No. 9 hole hitter, was 2 for 4 with a double and four RBIs. Joey Savin was 2 for 4, both doubles, and Garrett Owens was 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Thomas Broyles was 2 for 5 and Hayes Cox and Barrett Banister each drove in two runs.

For Rogers (14-3, 5-2), Heffley was 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Bradon Mabry was 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs.

Chase Arnold earned the win for Fayetteville, allowing five earned runs in four innings with one strikeout. Jacob Davenport earned the save, allowing just one earned run over three innings with three strikeouts.

Springdale High 7, Fort Smith Northside 1

Andrew Roach struck out 10 and earned the complete-game win to help Springdale snap a two-game skid with an important road victory.

The Bulldogs (12-7, 3-4 7A-West) took an early 2-0 lead and got some breathing room with a three-run fourth inning highlighted by a two-run, two-out double by Jake Williams. Springdale will host Northside (2-16, 0-6) in the second game of the series today.
