BENTONVILLE -- A Rogers man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday for the robbery of a pharmacy last year.

Joseph Head, 38, pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery, a felony punishable with a prison sentence ranging from 10 to 40 years or life imprisonment. A plea deal was reached between Rachel Stills, deputy public defender, and Cyndie Scharlau, deputy prosecutor.

Rogers police responded to a 911 call and alarm at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 9, 2015, at AllCare Pharmacy, 216 S. 13th St., according to court documents.

Head entered the business and demanded Oxycontin, according to a probable cause affidavit. Head said he was armed with a weapon, but he never displayed it to pharmacy employees, according to court documents.

A person commits aggravated robbery if he commits a robbery and represents by word or conduct he's armed with a deadly weapon, according to Arkansas law.

Head was arrested within two hours of the robbery. Multiple people contacted authorities after Rogers police posted a surveillance photograph of Head on the department's Facebook page, according to court documents.

Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren accepted the plea agreement and Head's guilty plea.

Head was sentenced to 10 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. He must serve seven years before he will be eligible for parole. Head was given 282 days of credit for time spent in the Benton County Jail awaiting trial.
