Switching to GOP, county judge says

BATESVILLE — Robert Griffin, county judge in Independence County, has announced he is switching from the Democratic to the Republican Party and will run for re-election as a Republican.

Griffin is serving his third term as the county’s chief administrative official.

He was welcomed to the GOP by officials including Gov. Asa Hutchinson, Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin, U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford and state party Chairman Doyle Webb.

State Rep. Mike Holcomb of Pine Bluff announced last month that he has switched from the Democratic Party to the GOP and will run for re-election as a Republican. Rep. Nate Bell of Mena announced in June that he was leaving the Republican Party to become an independent.
