Vehicle injures woman, kills man in Springdale

A man is dead and a woman injured after they were hit by a vehicle while walking north across Robinson Avenue near Long Street early Sunday, according to a preliminary accident report from the Arkansas State Police.

The incident was reported at 12:24 a.m. Sunday, according to police.

Hector Antonio Regalado-Sandoval, 47, of Springdale, died following the incident and Emma Rivera-Octaviana, 42, of Springdale was taken to Northwest Medical Center, according to the Arkansas State Police. The vehicle that hit the two drove away, according to the State Police report.

Springdale police arrested Griselda Yanira Arrue, 37, of 2910 Watercrest in Springdale about 11 a.m. Sunday in connection with leaving the scene of an injury accident and negligent homicide, according to a preliminary report for her arrest. The Springdale report marks the incident as happening near Y Liquors, 1817 S. Thompson.

Video footage showed the two struck by a white car while crossing the street, according to the preliminary Springdale report. Regalado was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the coroner, according to arrest information for Arrue. Arrue told police she panicked after hitting the pair and drove away.

Arrue was being held in the Washington County Detention Center Sunday with no bond set.

Regalado was the 378th traffic death in the 340 fatal wrecks worked by the Arkansas State Police so far this year.
