DeAngelo Williams followed up his strong debut with the Pittsburgh Steelers by tying a franchise record Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.
Williams (Wynne) rushed 20 times for 77 yards and ran for 3 touchdowns, to tie a franchise record. He scored twice on 2-yard runs in the second quarter and added a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter as the Steelers blew out the 49ers 43-19 in Pittsburgh.
Williams' big day came a week after he rushed for 127 yards in the season-opener. The veteran is the Steelers' leading rusher while starter Le'Veon Bell was suspended the first two games. Williams said Sunday that he welcomes Bell's return.
"You know what I feel good about? Help is on the way," Williams said. "Le'Veon Bell, the young bull, is coming back. There is no one more excited than I am because I know how special he is and the talent he brings to this table."
