Mississippi County District Judge Shannon Langston set bail at $1 million for Daniel "Da'Nasty" Johnson, 23, in the slaying of Vincent Stone, 23, of Blytheville.

Johnson remained in the Mississippi County jail in Luxora on Wednesday evening, said Capt. Scott Adams, commander of the Criminal Investigation Division at the Blytheville Police Department.

Police named Anfernee Xavier Wells, 25, as an accomplice in the shooting and are searching for him, Adams said.

Stone was shot while he walked to his car after playing basketball at Williams Park near West McHaney Drive on the evening of June 22. Medical personnel flew Stone by helicopter to Regional Medical Center in Memphis, where he died.

Adams said detectives received information that Johnson fled to Jefferson City, Mo., where he was taken into custody by U.S. marshals earlier this month. Marshals said they found a large quantity of marijuana in his residence when he was arrested.

When questioned, Johnson said he was in Memphis when Stone was shot, but could not remember how he got there, Adams said.

"Johnson admitted to heavy drug use that affects his memory," Adams said in a news release about the charge.
